Freedom of Speech?

Well here is my political rant/question for you this week. Is this infringing on this person's freedom of speech, is it just plain rude, or do you think they are doing the right things. From 1960 to 1967 a man who now lives in Springfield , OR served in the United States Nave in the Submarine Division and is now facing being evicted from his housing complex if he hangs an American Flag on Veteran's Day. This has become a tradition for the man, he hangs an American flag that was given to him from the funeral of his father who served in WWII. The CEO of the apartment complex says it  is not an attack on the American Flag, but it is to set a president on not allowing anything to be put up and break the rules.

I understand the CEO's reasoning for this but I think that if they at least got a GOOD flag pole, this problem might be solved without the negative press. I think that he needs to be able to hang his flag as it is a National Holiday and the simple fact that he has served our country. He is brave and I believe that he has the right to raise his flag.

Let me know what you think, read the above link and then comment.

  1. This is funny. I posted on this same article. I agree about the idea of the complex getting a quality flagpole to fly the American flag, but I also think that it is pretty easy to incorporate a policy that allows tenants to hang an American flag in front of their doors. No other items can be hanging on the building unless they are American flags. This seems pretty doable to me.
