Excessive use of force, or the right amount for the job.

As many of you know, the "occupy" movement around the nation has been making headlines for the past few months. This week the headline was that of an 84 year old protester along with others, who got hit with a blast of pepper spray at a rally and march in Seattle, Washington. So was this excessive use of force, or did the officers make the correct call. I think that the officers acted within their rights. As it was "rush hour" and the protesters were effectively blocking a key intersection. The officers acted in order to maintain control after they gave several verbal warning to move. I believe if the officer did not do so, the traffic could have been congested so bad the drivers and protesters would have gotten into a physical disturbance.

The officers diverted a possibly serious dangerous situation with just a little pain. That is why that compound was created. The face that an 84 year old was caught in the middle of it should not make a difference. The fact is she was there when they set off the pepper spay. I am sorry if some of you find that "uncaring" or "inhuman" but the fact of the matter is she was is the wrong place at the wrong time. I feel that the movement is using this story and spinning it to where they make the officers out to be the bad guys. I am all for free speech but when you infringe on the rights of others you have gone to far. When you are blocking people from going somewhere you are infringing on someone else rights. Had the protesters gotten out of the roadway this incident may have been avoided.

I am writing this with just the knowledge of what the story says and my opinion. No one yet knows of all the circumstances surrounding that pepper spaying incident. As always this is just my opinion.
